PlayStation Reveal Introduces Emma, Koo and the Blight
A PlayStation showcase put Beast of Reincarnation's heroine Emma, her dog Koo and the world-corrupting blight front and centre — alongside fresh look at its combat.
Alongside the release date, Game Freak’s PlayStation showcase gave Beast of Reincarnation its clearest introduction yet — putting the story’s central pair and the world’s defining threat in the spotlight.
Meet the leads
The reveal centred on Emma, the 18-year-old outcast “Blightborn” who manipulates her plant-like hair into vines, and her companion Koo — a malefact dog who, by the rules of the world, should be her enemy. Game Freak leaned into the “one-girl, one-dog” framing that defines the game’s tone.
A world consumed by blight
The showcase also established the setting: a far-future Japan in the year 4026, overrun by the parasitic blight that twists living things into monsters called malefacts. Beautiful and harsh in equal measure, it’s a world where forests erupt from the wasteland and humanity clings to mountain colonies.
