Commanding Koo

Companion System · Two-Character Combat

Koo isn't just along for the ride — in Beast of Reincarnation you command the blighted dog's techniques in real time, turning combat into a coordinated duo.

Emma uses sword abilities while players command Koo's techniques.

A standard action RPG gives you one character to control. Beast of Reincarnation gives you two — Emma and her dog Koo — and the companion system is what turns that pairing into a real mechanic rather than set dressing.

Two characters, one fight

Official descriptions explain that Emma uses her sword abilities while the player commands Koo’s techniques. In practice that means you’re not just swinging a blade; you’re directing the dog to harry, pin or stagger enemies and then capitalising with Emma. The interplay between Emma’s strikes and Koo’s commands is the heart of the combat loop.

Creating and punishing openings

Because the game’s combat rewards timing and openings, Koo becomes a tool for making those openings on your terms. Send the dog in to break an enemy’s rhythm, then follow with a parry or a heavy vine attack. Done well, the duo can dismantle threats that would overwhelm a lone fighter.

What we expect

The fine detail — how many techniques Koo learns, whether the dog can be customised, and how commands map to the controller — hasn’t been fully laid out. What’s confirmed is the principle: Koo is a commandable combat partner, not an escort you protect. Expect the bond between the two to grow mechanically as well as narratively.
