Swarm Malefacts
Group Threat · Many Small Bodies
Some malefacts in Beast of Reincarnation are dangerous not for size but for number — swarm threats that overwhelm careless players and force you to use the whole toolkit.
Alone they're nothing. Together they're a tide.
Not every dangerous malefact is a giant. Swarm malefacts are the archetype that threatens through numbers — many small corrupted bodies that, together, can surround and overwhelm. We expect them to be a deliberate change of pace in Beast of Reincarnation’s encounter design.
A different kind of pressure
Where an oversized mutant tests your timing one strike at a time, a swarm tests your awareness and positioning. Stand in the open and you’ll be hit from every angle; the answer is to keep moving, funnel enemies and use attacks that hit more than one target. This is exactly the situation where Emma’s vine reach and Koo’s harassment shine, letting you control a crowd you can’t simply out-trade.
The value in the crowd
Each swarm member is still a malefact, so clearing one is a chance to seal in volume. The risk is real, but so is the reward for handling a swarm cleanly.
Archetype entry based on the established variety of malefacts. We’ll add specific swarm creatures as the game details them.
